April 14, 2026: Classism – The Construct of Social Class

All Stamford providers working with young people, are welcome to attend our quarterly meeting

Classism

The construct of social class has a big impact on people’s overall development as it relates to a person’s access to wealth, privilege and status. Because classism has an adverse impact on people’s overall functioning, we must understand it and know how to limit its impact on a young person, especially since we work in a region where young people are faced daily with the external trappings of excessive wealth and how our society perceives white collar high earners.

  • Session will focus on:
    • The foundations of classism and socialization
    • Inclusive language
    • Skill building to help us address the negative impacts of classism
  • Agenda:
    • Training 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    • Networking/Resource Sharing 12:30 to 1 p.m.
  • Trainer:
    • Nyaunu Stevens, Program Director, National Conference for Community and Justice
  • Location: Domus Kids, 83 Lockwood Avenue, Stamford.
